Clubmans Report Enthusiasm is at the heart of our Clubmans competition and last night you certainly needed plenty of it to even think about riding. It was wet, it was slippery and it was cold. No surprise then that the field was small but those that did brave the conditions were more than justly rewarded and several riders scored their event maximums for the season. Clair , in particular deserves a mention; she now holds the record for the greatest number of points scored by a lady in one event in the last two seasons. There are still 6 out of the 20 scoring events to come (only 4 for the PETTS) which means that anyone having ridden 4 or more events is still in the hunt for a Clubmans trophy. You have to ride 10 events and looking at the tables this still leads the competition, in every category, wide open. Whats happened to the summer? I rode in the wet on Saturday, the gales on Sunday, the wet on Tuesday and tonights event on Levens looks like another wet one!!!!! You think Im daft; Duncan has just rung ,and having looked at the foul weather forecast this morning he has asked for a last minute entry to tonights event!!!!!! 14.7.2010 KVRC Evening 25 L2524 terrible evening, dark and windy, the wind died down for the start at 7pm but then the rain came down tropical storm-like before settling to a heavy drizzle, rear if not front lights were needed too, it did lighten up through the event a little better. Fastest rider was Kieren Banlin Lune CC 54.23, KVRC championship went to David Baxter 54.27. CRC were also helping KVRC out in return for letting our club ride their events. so we had Matt Allan doing finish timing and myself doing marshalling stints at Lindale and then a quick chase across to the Gilpin Bridge to send the riders to the finish down the Lythe Valley road. Team CRC was lead by Stephen Swift smashing his PB and first time under the hour 58.27, well done Swifty, Junior Record only seconds away next stop for him, Mick Black and his constantly wet shoes also riding well 58.37, Paul Jackson was continuing his form and a well deserved PB 1.00.06, Duncan Smith PB too 1.00.57, Dave Balshaw 1.6.14 and a personal best too for another one of our young guns Oliver Marshall 1.6.28.
18.7.2010 Border City Wheelers L2511 the end of a miserable wet week for racers with another up in Cumbria, heavy drizzle leaving Blackpool in the early hours of the morning driving up into even darker skies, when we arrived it wasn't too bad, middle part of the course was actually dry and it was warmish. Most of the race was just in drizzle but there was a 23mph south wind which meant a side wind for most of the ride and some protection from the hills, Embleton Bank was the usual slog but towards the top there was some shelter. CRC had a good team out and it was a planned attempt on the club team record but not to be on a windy day, still we had a very successful trip even if there was no team award given, we took 1st, 3rd and 4th places. Derek Parkinson won with a super fast 51.59, 2nd was Ian Cox (North Lancs RC) 55.13, 3rd Dave Turner 56.53 and myself 4th 57.08 backed up by Mick Black 1.00.44, Paul Jackson 1.2.29, Jocky Johnstone riding for Team Icarus 1.3.21
